Pattison started life as a dance school in the 1920s. Pattison College was established in 1949 by Betty Pattison to provide full-time education for talented pupils wishing to make a career in the theatre. Over the years the emphasis has changed. There is still plenty of opportunity for pupils interested in Dance, Drama and Music, but parents can also see the advantages of an uninterrupted education from Nursery to GCSEs.
The younger pupils have their dance lessons during the school day; older pupils during lunchtime, after school or on a Saturday. They are allowed to perform at school functions, charity events and productions, both professional and amateur, at theatres in the region.
Pupils are encouraged to take examinations in the Performing Arts set by the following organisations: The Royal Academy of Dancing The International Dance Teachers Association The Associated Board of the Royal School of Music The London College of Music The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art
