Ballyclare dancers get Lidl boost

TV presenter and model, Zoe Salmon, accompanied the retailer’s Community Works Crew when they visited the dance group recently at their studio in Ballyclare to award them with a donation.

The money presented to the group will not only help buy new kits, but will also make their dreams come true by enabling them to attend the Dance Excellence 2016 competition in Los Angeles.

After the visit from Zoe and the crew, studio owner and dance teacher, Jennifer Milligan, said: “We are so grateful to Lidl for choosing us as one of their Big Projects. The girls have worked so hard and it feels great to get to reward them for that - which, without Lidl’s help, wouldn’t have been possible. We can’t wait to get to LA and hopefully do Lidl and Northern Ireland proud.”

The Lidl Community Works initiative launched in June of this year and sees Lidl Northern Ireland backing local community groups and projects from all over the province to the value of £200,000. Lidl had the help of a star studded judging panel, including Rory Best and Zoe Salmon, who had the difficult task of choosing the final 32 groups from over 2,000 nominations.

Aoife Jackson from the Lidl Community Crew is proud to be part of the campaign.

“Meeting Jennifer and the dancers from the Jennifer Milligan Dance Academy was a real treat. They are an enthusiastic and talented group and we wish the girls the best of luck at Dance Excellence 2016,” she commented.
