Youngsters raise the ballet barre

Dancers from across the region celebrated a 100 per cent pass rate in their ballet exams with the Associated Board Of Dance.

Twenty-eight students from Colebrook School Of Dance, based at Brookenby, achieved merits, commended and honours certificates for their endeavours.

Wendy Groves from the Board visited their dance studios and was pleased with the facilities the school offered and the high standard of work shown in the students raging from three to 12 years old.

Veronica Colebrook-Smith, the principal, worked alongside the dance schools ballet and acrobatics teacher Jayne Evans and teaching assistant Shannon Friend to train and guide the students through their lessons each week.

The school are now working towards their next dance festival with a range of routines in solos, duets, trios and troupes for The Gainsborough Stage Dance Festival, at Kirton in Lindsey, in October.

The new term starts this Saturday, with the addition of a new "Gerry and Ginger Class" geared towards children aged from 18 months old.

The class is taken by Miss Jayne, in Studio 2, at 11am, on Saturdays and incorporates expressive movement, ballet, tap and tumble.

Gerry and Ginger is a weekly award scheme where stickers and certificates are handed to the pupils on attaining a particular goal.

The new term also sees the addition of a new adult dance class to follow the already popular tap class on a Tuesday evening at 7.30pm.

The dance school is based at the Brookenby Community Centre, in Kent Road, and has two purpose designed studios complete with full length mirrors, a changing area, parents waiting area and car park.
