Lexy Dawbarn and William Davies claim victory at UDO World Street Dance Competition

A young dancing duo has claimed victory after facing off with pairs of street dancers from across the world.

Seven-year-old Lexy Dawbarn and William Davies, six, came up trumps in the under-eight duos at the UDO World Street Dance Competition in Glasgow last month.

The pair, who trained at Museum Street-based Stage Pro Academy, had only been dancing together for a few months ahead of the competition.

Lexy, from Higher Walton, is showing off the same talents as her uncle – Spike from 90s boyband 911.

Her mum Tanya said: “Lexy is following in his footsteps – he’s proud of Lexy and he was training her for the solos competition.

“His son is more into football than dancing so he’s happy.

“Until recently they had different duo partners but they were the only two of their age who were going to the competition so we put them together.

“They only had from June to August to practice together and William was away on holiday for three weeks during that time, so they both did well and they also did well in their solos.

“Now they’re together they don’t want to be separated as they work so well with each other.”

Elsewhere at the competition, Stage Pro’s Evolve, APEX and Blayz dance crews battled it out in front of thousands of spectators at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre.

Apex managed to claim fifth place in the competition, while Evolve made it to the top 20 and Blayz secured a semi-final spot.

The dance academy also had several other representatives competing in the solo and duo categories at the event, with many placing.
