Brighton street dance crews Killabeez, Stereoshok and Koei have all the right moves

This talented group of dancers pulled all the right shapes to move one step closer to the World Street Dance Championships.

Brighton-based dance crew Killabeez won the UDO Street Dance Championships in Reading on Monday.

It was the first time all Killabeez members had performed together and, impressively, they fought off competition from seven other Under-10s crews to take the crown.

Not only have they now qualified for next year's European Championships in Germany, but they have taken a giant leap towards the UDO World Street Dance Championships in Glasgow in August.

JP Omari, the group’s hip hop teacher, had a resounding success at the event as his two other crews Stereoshok (Under14's) and Koei (Novice Under14's) also won their categories.

JP said: "Words cannot express how proud I am of these kids and Christy, who trains Koei. We have worked the kids down to the ground with blood, sweat and tears and all the hard work has paid off. This is only the start of many more wins and new challenges. I have poured my life and soul into these kids and they have done me, Christy, their parents, Street Funk and Brighton and Hove proud."

Killabeez and the other crews will be regularly performing around Brighton and Hove over the next few months to raise money to help get them to the World Championships.

JP Omari added: “They have been competing at many different competitions around the southeast but the World Championships is going to take them to the next level and give them great experience competing against world-class dancers.”
